Lessons are available on Saturdays and Sundays plus weekdays Tues, Wed, Thurs. We do not do late evening lessons. Private lessons are by appointment. Vouchers are available for lessons or items from the tack shop. Series bookings attract a discount.
We can take 3 year olds but the parent/guardian must walk beside the child who must be big enough and sensible enough to hold themselves on the pony. Children under 5yrs are restricted to riding in an enclosed arena.
Please note the weight limits. These are for your safety and for the comfort of the horses and ponies. Our riding simulator is capable of taking up to 16 stone. Book lessons on this to get fit before you ride a live horse. Lesson prices from £20 per half hour, the price depends on when you come, off peak is always best, peak prices are the same as a private lesson.
If you book a private lesson at the weekend check if this indoors as if the weather is bad we can transfer your lesson to the riding simulator. We do ride in the rain but not in a thunder storm.
BIRTHDAY PARTIES for all ages from 4yrs up. Book a riding party for up to 10 riders usually on a Saturday afternoon. Alternative times available in school holidays. Phone for details.
Riding is a risk sport and holds a potential danger, all horses may react unpredictably on occasions. All clients ride and help at their own risk.
We do our best to keep prices as low as we are able but you must do your bit by ensuring that you give us at least 24 hours notice if you can not come for a lesson otherise we expect you to pay the full fee. This applies in case of a re-arrangement or a cancellation. All lessons must be prepaid by cheque with banker's card or in cash. Cheques should be made payable to Watford Equestrian Ltd.
what to wear
Wear hard hats when riding, leading or handling the horses. Good footwear is essential – a stout shoe or boot with a smooth sole and low flat heel – not trainers or wellies. Do not wear boots or clothes with zips, studs etc that may damage the saddles. Wear jodhpurs or long comfortable stretchy trousers never shorts. Gloves are recommended. Wear long sleeves when riding out in the fields. Body protectors are essential for jumping lessons. HATS AND BOOTS AVAILABLE FOR HIRE AT £1 EACH. For purchase see the Tack Shop for details.
